At today's Huawei Developer Conference (HDC 2026), Yu Chengdong, Executive Director of Huawei and Chairman of the Consumer Business Group, officially announced the open-source PanGu Large Model 2.0, demonstrating Huawei's strong commitment and new strategy in the field of artificial intelligence.
Looking back at the development of the PanGu Large Model, Yu Chengdong admitted on site that Huawei is one of the pioneers who first explored large models globally. When the concept of large models was still vague in the industry, Huawei had already started related research. Although there were some ups and downs and adjustments along the way, after Yu Chengdong took charge of the large model business before last National Day, the team achieved a comprehensive iteration of the technical architecture and performance despite the objective limitations of computing power reserves.
The newly released PanGu 2.0 version has a maximum parameter scale of 505B, marking a key step for Huawei's large model in terms of ecological compatibility and practical efficiency. Faced with intense technological competition, Yu Chengdong showed strong competitive awareness. He addressed the developers on site, saying: "In my dictionary, there is no second place, only the first."
Yu Chengdong emphasized that Huawei will lead the technical team to continuously catch up, and through the accumulation of full-stack technology capabilities, build a more competitive AI ecosystem. As an important part of Huawei's construction of the HarmonyOS ecosystem, the continuous evolution and open-sourcing of large models aim to empower more extensive industry applications and provide developers with stronger underlying support.
This conference is not only a display of Huawei's technological achievements but also a strong industry signal, showing that Huawei is focusing more than ever before on launching a new wave of attacks toward the peak of artificial intelligence technology.
