Artificial intelligence giant OpenAI has made substantial progress in its hardware strategy, with senior executives giving high praise to the AI hardware device currently under secret development. Sarah Friar, OpenAI's Chief Financial Officer, recently publicly stated at an industry summit that she had personally tested the unreleased device and admitted that the interaction experience was very natural, even evoking a sense of affection.
Top Design Experts Behind the Human-Centric Experience
It is reported that this mysterious device was developed in deep collaboration with the team led by Jony Ive, former Chief Design Officer of Apple. After OpenAI acquired the startup founded by Ive last year, both parties have been fully committed to the development of this smart device, which is positioned as "unobtrusive, portable, and capable of fully perceiving the surrounding environment and user behavior." The goal is to hide complex technology in plain sight and give technology more human-centric experiences.
Although there have been numerous speculations about the exact form of the device, OpenAI has kept it highly confidential, even quickly denying online rumors about spherical devices and earphone ads. However, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman clearly clarified that the product is not a phone, dispelling some market misunderstandings.
Official Release at Year-End Generates Excitement
In terms of the release schedule, OpenAI has given a more explicit official response than usual. Friar clearly revealed that OpenAI will officially launch the product at the end of this year, which is earlier than the previously disclosed earliest shipment date of February 2027 in legal documents.
Altman and Ive had previously discussed design concepts and stated their shared goal was to create a product that consumers would find hard to resist, even developing a strong sense of closeness. As the release date approaches, this new hardware, designed to completely change the way people experience technology products, is undoubtedly set to become a focal point in the tech world.
