Global social media giant Meta is accelerating the integration of artificial intelligence into its vast communication ecosystem. On June 3 local time, Meta officially announced that its customer support AI robot specifically designed for businesses - now renamed "Meta Business Agent" - has been fully launched on the WhatsApp Business platform worldwide. This move marks WhatsApp's evolution from a communication tool for small businesses to a productivity software with actual workflow processing capabilities.

This global move was not hasty. Before this, Meta had conducted end-to-end testing for nearly two years in key markets such as India and Mexico. The newly upgraded AI agent can not only answer customers' daily procedural questions in real-time, accurately recommend products, and book appointments online, but it can also conduct preliminary evaluation and screening of sales leads. If the issue becomes too complex and requires human intervention, the system will smoothly redirect the conversation to a live customer service representative. In addition to WhatsApp, the agent has also been made available to the private messaging (DM) ecosystem of Instagram.

To further release management efficiency, Meta is currently testing a highly practical "Daily Briefing" feature with selected merchants on WhatsApp Business, Instagram Pro, Messenger, and the Meta Business Suite. This feature automatically sorts through the large number of missed customer messages during the night in the morning and extracts core business insights.

The Meta team revealed that the future feature roadmap will extend to deeper business scenarios, including giving the agent the ability to conduct market research, extract competitor insights, highlight product features, and manage user calendars. At the same time, the AI agent will deeply participate in search scenarios. When users look for relevant businesses or request contact information within the platform, the AI will achieve accurate proactive outreach. For large enterprise customers, Meta is building an open customization platform that allows companies to seamlessly link their self-created AI agents to mainstream third-party e-commerce and customer management systems such as Shopify, Zendesk, and Shopee.

In terms of commercial monetization, Meta plans to charge small and medium-sized enterprises by bundling it into specific value-added service packages of the WhatsApp Business
