The largest artificial intelligence startup in Europe, Mistral AI, has recently become the focus of industry attention. Its CEO clearly stated in an interview with American media that, in the long term, having its own customized AI chip may just be a matter of time.

Currently, the demand for computing power in the large model industry is experiencing explosive growth, and major players are beginning to develop their own hardware. Not only are tech giants developing their own application-specific integrated circuits, but also new unicorn companies such as OpenAI are actively advancing collaborations with semiconductor companies.

Reducing Costs and Reducing Reliance on Computing Power

Regarding the reasons for considering in-house chip development, the company's executive pointed out that customized AI chips can significantly reduce the deployment costs of tokens. Currently, Mistral AI heavily relies on chip giant NVIDIA for its computing infrastructure, and in-house chip development will be an important way for it to break through computing constraints.

Although the company is still purchasing a large number of existing commercial chips, it has already started some early explorations into in-house chip development. Management stated that the company has not ruled out the possibility of turning these technological studies into actual business actions in the future.

Deepening Layouts and Building an Intelligent Agent Ecosystem

In addition to its long-term planning at the hardware level, Mistral AI has also been active in software and infrastructure ecosystems recently. The company has just announced the acquisition of a physical AI company, Emmi AI, further expanding its technical portfolio.

To support future business expansion, the company also plans to build a 10-megawatt dedicated inference data center in France. At the same time, they have launched a new enterprise intelligent agent platform aimed at comprehensively accelerating the application of artificial intelligence in the enterprise market.
