The gaming giant Ubisoft has recently been revealed to be using an unreleased early version of "Far Cry 7" to secretly test generative AI technology. However, a well-known industry leaker who has long tracked the game's development openly stated that the current test results "look terrible."

Early Development and Does Not Affect the Final Version

According to insiders, Ubisoft is currently using this title as an experimental platform for generative AI tools, and this test is purely for early-stage development purposes. The experiment aims to explore the feasibility of AI technology in actual development. There are currently no signs that these immature AI effects will appear directly in the final version of the game.

This exposed development test is not directly related to Ubisoft's independent "Teammates" project. Although Ubisoft recently reported record-breaking operating losses in its latest financial report, it has still clearly stated that it will further increase its investment in funds and technology in the field of generative AI.

Major Players Bet on Real-Time Dynamic NPC Interaction

Ubisoft is currently accelerating its investment in AI projects and has described it as "the first playable generative AI experience." The company is actively developing AI-driven QA testing robots and intelligent systems that allow NPCs to adapt in real-time to player behavior and make dynamic responses.

This vision stems from closed-door experiments conducted by its La Forge R&D department, aiming to make NPCs in games into companion characters capable of deep conversations with players and remembering player information. Although many AI experiments have not yet entered any commercial game titles, Ubisoft has confirmed that the new installment of the Far Cry series will officially launch before March 2029.
