On May 19, French top artificial intelligence company Mistral AI announced the acquisition of Emmi AI, a Vienna-based startup in physical AI. This move aims to further expand its customized service capabilities for European industrial clients. Although the purchase price of this transaction was not disclosed, it is worth noting that Emmi AI had completed Austria's largest funding round in history in 2025, successfully raising 15 million euros.

Emmi AI focuses on developing artificial intelligence models that can simulate complex physical processes such as airflow, heat transfer, and material stress. This kind of technology has extremely high application value in heavy industry and high-precision manufacturing. Currently, Mistral AI is building customized artificial intelligence systems for industry giants such as ASML, Stellantis, and Veolia, used for core tasks such as production defect detection or precise control of robotic arms. Arthur Mensch, CEO of Mistral AI, stated that this acquisition will significantly strengthen the company's market position in aerospace, automotive, and semiconductor industries.

From an industry trend perspective, traditional LLMs are accelerating their expansion towards "physical AI" with the ability to understand and simulate the physical world. By absorbing Emmi AI's underlying physical simulation technology, Mistral AI not only completes the strategic expansion from pure digital text intelligence to industrial physical intelligence, but also further deepens the penetration of the AI chain in Europe's high-end manufacturing supply chain, establishing a new model for the comprehensive implementation of large models in heavy industry.
