Google has officially launched the new Gemini Intelligence feature suite, which is not just a simple brand repositioning but a comprehensive set of advanced AI capabilities for the Android platform. This suite can autonomously perform multi-step tasks in the background, automatically retrieving and processing information between different apps and websites on behalf of users.

To support its powerful local AI model, Google has set quite stringent requirements for device hardware, with the most notable being that devices must have at least 12GB of RAM. This means that this next-generation AI feature will not be widely available on all Android devices in the short term.

Focus on the latest flagship models, limited initial support

According to current public information, Gemini Intelligence is expected to first launch on Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 foldable models. Google has also confirmed that the Galaxy S26 series and Pixel 10 series will also receive this feature this summer.

In addition to the minimum memory requirement, devices must also be equipped with qualified flagship chips, support system-level AICore services, and meet specific quality criteria. Under these multiple strict restrictions, the number of Android devices that can actually access this feature initially will be very limited.

Software and security dual certification, mid-range models may miss out

Google also emphasized in its official documentation the device's security isolation and virtualization capabilities, requiring support for protected kernel-based VM technologies, among others. In addition, devices supporting this feature must commit to at least five major system version updates and six years of quarterly security updates.
