Elon Musk recently confirmed on the social media platform X that the internal version 9 of the large model of his artificial intelligence company xAI has been officially completed. This new model has an impressive parameter count of up to 1.5 trillion and is expected to be released to the public in the next 3 to 4 weeks.
Musk showed great confidence in this update, stating that the new version will provide users with an "unbeatable" experience. With OpenAI and Anthropic continuously advancing in the programming field, xAI's move aims to achieve a technological breakthrough through ultra-large parameters.
Face existing data deficiencies and absorb massive code data
Musk admitted two days ago that the currently used Grok 4.3 large model does indeed have data deficiencies in practical performance. Especially in the field of AI programming, although previous updates of the Grok 4.X series had impressive benchmark scores, the actual experience still could not match the industry standard Claude.
To completely fill this technical gap, the new large model will enter a critical phase of supplementary training before its official release. This phase will focus on absorbing massive code data from the programming tool Cursor, providing the model with solid foundational knowledge.
Deep collaboration with Cursor, fine-tuning programming capabilities
After completing the absorption of code knowledge at the bottom level, the development team will further refine the model through supervised fine-tuning (SFT) and reinforcement learning (RL). Previously, xAI has reached a deep collaboration with the well-known programming tool Cursor, not only providing computing power support but also reportedly considering a possible acquisition for 20 billion dollars.
This complementary cooperation will provide the new version of Grok with the much-needed professional programming nutrients. xAI is trying to use this strong partnership to unleash a real ace in the field of software development automation.
