Microsoft recently announced a major update to the Edge browser, aiming to transform the browser from a simple information retrieval tool into a personal AI assistant with active interaction capabilities by deeply integrating Copilot AI. The core of this update is that Copilot is now authorized to access all open tab information, allowing users to compare content across pages, summarize multiple articles, and analyze product specifications. Microsoft emphasized that users have full autonomous control over this feature, and they can enable or disable data collection at any time.
Regarding functional architecture adjustments, Microsoft has officially discontinued the original Copilot mode and integrated its agency functions such as purchasing and booking into the new "Browse with Copilot" tool.

For educational and creative scenarios, Edge introduced an AI-driven "Learning" mode that converts static web pages into interactive courses or quizzes in real-time; it also added a podcast generation tool similar to NotebookLM, supporting the conversion of tab content into audio streams. Additionally, an AI writing assistant, cross-platform (desktop and mobile) "long-term memory" function, and "Journey" automatic classification based on browsing history collectively build a full-cycle AI experience that spans search, navigation, and creation.
