At the launch event on May 13, Google announced a series of new features for Android 17 and unveiled an artificial intelligence technology named Gemini Intelligence. This new AI capability will be fully integrated into the Android platform, marking the upgrade of the Android system from a simple operating system to a smart system, which will be rolled out to users in batches this summer.

According to the information, Gemini Intelligence will first be compatible with Samsung Galaxy S26 and Google Pixel 10 phones, and will later expand to various devices such as Android smartwatches, car systems, smart glasses, and notebooks. Its core function is to achieve multi-step task automation across applications, automatically completing cumbersome processes such as hailing a taxi, shopping, and booking. Users only need to long-press the power button or take a photo to trigger commands, and the system will run in the background and send real-time notifications. All operations still require user confirmation to ensure security and privacy.

Additionally, Google's Chrome browser will add the Gemini intelligent assistant in late June, supporting web content summaries, information comparisons, and one-click filling of complex forms. This feature can automatically book and reserve daily services, greatly improving user efficiency.

In terms of input methods, Gboard has added the Rambler voice polishing feature, which can convert natural spoken language into concise text, automatically correct intonations and repeated content, and support seamless switching between multiple languages. Notably, all voice data will only be transcribed in real time and will not be stored, further enhancing user privacy.

The Android system also introduced a natural language custom widget feature, allowing users to generate personalized desktop widgets through verbal descriptions, displaying information such as schedules and weather. In addition, Gemini Intelligence is equipped with an upgraded UI based on the Material 3 Expressive design concept, optimizing animation effects to reduce distractions and improve user focus.

At this launch, Google emphasized that Gemini Intelligence ensures user data privacy throughout the process, and all AI operations are under user control. The related generative AI features are currently in the experimental phase, and Google has committed to continuously optimizing this technology to enhance the user experience.
