Tesla has taken another key step in the localization of artificial intelligence. According to the latest announcement released by Shanghai Cyberspace Administration on April 21, the "Tesla In-Car Voice Large Model Service" applied for by Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. has been officially approved for the filing of generative AI services on April 20.

This development signifies that Tesla's smart cockpit experience is about to undergo a deep evolution in the Chinese market. To date, a total of 158 generative AI services have completed filing in Shanghai. As a key foreign-invested enterprise, Tesla's large model service has always attracted close attention from the industry.

Accelerating Intelligent Transformation Through Software and Hardware Integration

The voice large model approved this time mainly targets in-car interaction scenarios. By introducing generative AI technology, Tesla is expected to change the relatively basic voice control mode of the past, giving vehicles stronger comprehension capabilities and multi-turn dialogue abilities.

Notably, this is not the first time Tesla has submitted an AI business filing in China. Earlier last November, Tesla's "xBot Customer Service" had already become one of the first batch of foreign enterprises' large model products approved for online launch. This service is mainly used in the online customer service module of the Tesla App, capable of deeply understanding questions from car owners and potential users, and providing accurate intelligent answers. From early applications in after-sales services to now directly integrating into the core interaction of the in-car cockpit, Tesla's AI strategy is showing a clear path of penetration from the service layer to the product layer.

Compliance and Industry Standards

While advancing the implementation of technology, Tesla strictly complies with domestic regulatory requirements. According to relevant regulations, generative AI applications that have been launched must display the model name and filing number in a prominent position within the product. In addition, when generating synthetic content, the related functions must add clear identification according to the "Artificial Intelligence Generated Synthetic Content Identification Method" to ensure algorithm transparency and security.

As the large model services of foreign automakers such as Volvo and Tesla have successively passed the filing, the focus of competition in the domestic intelligent automobile market is accelerating towards "AI-defined cars." For the majority of Tesla owners, an intelligent cockpit experience with more "human-like" and logical thinking is just around the corner.
