Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has officially released the beta version of its Claude plugin for Microsoft Word. Following Excel and PowerPoint, this move marks Claude's deep integration into the office software ecosystem and clearly targets the professional document review market in legal and financial fields.

The "Second Brain" for Legal Professionals

Claude for Word is not a simple function transfer but is deeply customized for long document workflows:

  • Interactive Citations: Users can ask questions about document details directly, and Claude's answers will include clickable chapter links that jump to the original location in Word with precision.

  • Native Revision Mode: Supports "suggested edits," with all changes presented in revision marks. Users can choose to "accept" or "reject" them individually, just like reviewing a first draft, ensuring the document format remains intact.

  • Enhanced Multi-round Collaboration: It can identify and handle comments (comment threads) in the document and precisely rewrite specific texts based on review feedback.

Practical Capabilities of Deeply Integrated Workflows

In the official demonstration, Anthropic showcased the plugin's powerful performance in handling contracts, including一键 summarizing business terms, automatically identifying risk items that deviate from market standards, and automatically adjusting the parity of compensation clauses based on the other party's modification suggestions.

To ensure enterprise-level security, the plugin is currently only available to Team and Enterprise plan users and has not yet been rolled out to individual subscribers.

This release sends a strong signal: Anthropic is accelerating its transformation from a pure AI model provider into a core productivity tool for enterprises. By directly challenging Microsoft's Copilot in the core battlefield of Word, Claude aims to establish a differentiated competitive advantage in professional document scenarios that require high accuracy and logical depth.
