Elon Musk's social platform X has officially announced its instant messaging product, XChat, which will launch on April 17 on the App Store. The product is now available for pre-download in the China region, marking a key step in its "super app" strategy.

According to the disclosed information, XChat is developed using the Rust language, with an installation package size of 175.8MB, and supports iOS 16 and above. In terms of security and privacy, the product emphasizes end-to-end encryption, no ads, no user data tracking, and introduces anti-screenshot and self-destructing messages to enhance private communication experiences. On the functional side, XChat covers all scenarios of communication needs, supporting one-on-one and group chats, high-definition audio and video calls, and large file transfers (up to 4GB per file for Premium users). It also allows users to directly drag tweets and videos from within the platform into the chat window, achieving deep integration of content and social interaction.

Notably, XChat has been seamlessly integrated with Grok AI capabilities, allowing users to call the assistant directly within the chat interface to perform tasks such as information queries and content generation, further evolving the chat interface into an intelligent interaction interface. This design strengthens X's product differentiation in the era of generative AI and reflects the collaborative layout of xAI and the social ecosystem.

Combined with Musk's previous goal of transforming X into a "WeChat upgrade," the release of XChat is seen as a crucial infrastructure for building a super app overseas. In the context of accelerating trends in private communication, content distribution, and AI integration, XChat may become an important driver for closing the X ecosystem loop. However, whether it can replicate WeChat's multi-functional integration path still depends on continuous expansion of user scale and improvement of cross-scenario service capabilities.
