To rekindle user engagement, OpenAI is preparing to unleash a powerful move. According to the latest news, this AI giant plans to directly integrate its video generation model Sora into its flagship chatbot ChatGPT. This strategic shift aims to leverage the large active user base of ChatGPT to inject new vitality into Sora.

In fact, the standalone Sora app caused a huge stir when it was launched in September 2025. However, due to recent limitations on the types and volume of videos it can generate, its popularity has significantly declined. This integration is seen as a key step for OpenAI to catch up with competitors and capture the AI content creator market. Even after the integration, the official plans to continue operating the standalone application to meet the needs of users at different levels.

However, embedding a resource-intensive video generator into a chatbot is like a "money-burning battle" for OpenAI. To offset the high computing costs, the company is expected to explore a points-based monetization mechanism similar to that of the standalone app. More excitingly, OpenAI may unlock advanced paid features—thanks to the previous $1 billion investment from Disney, users may soon be allowed to use authorized Disney classic characters for secondary creation in videos.

From launching the ChatGPT browser Atlas to developing the AI music generator, OpenAI is accelerating the construction of its comprehensive media creation ecosystem. When a film-level video productivity tool like Sora becomes a plugin in the ChatGPT chat interface, the threshold for mass creation will be violently lowered.
