After a long wait, Hong Kong users are finally about to "shake hands" face-to-face with Google's strongest AI assistant. According to a report by Cable News today, Google has begun gradually opening its large language model Gemini web application to users in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
As a multi-modal AI developed by Google, Gemini had not been directly available to individual users in Hong Kong for various reasons. This "unlocked" access means that all users in Hong Kong will now be able to directly experience this top-tier productivity tool that integrates text processing, image generation, voice interaction, and complex data analysis.
According to Google's official plan, this release will be implemented in stages:
Phase One: Gradually expanding web-based access for all users in Hong Kong.
Phase Two: In the future, it will further cover the Gemini App mobile application, allowing users to access AI capabilities anytime and anywhere on their phones.
Currently, Hong Kong users can use Gemini to handle daily office tasks, or utilize its multi-modal capabilities to generate creative images, multimedia content, and even write music. Although Google has not yet revealed whether the released model includes the latest Gemini 1.5 Pro series, this move undoubtedly significantly lowers the technical barriers for Hong Kong developers and creative professionals.
It is worth noting that with the official entry of Gemini, the AI competitive landscape in the Hong Kong market will become increasingly intense. Previously, the CCTV 3-15 Evening exposed an industry chain that had poisoned AI large models, reminding users to maintain a cautious judgment of AI-generated content while enjoying the technological benefits provided by Google. When global top AI truly integrates into daily life in the Victoria Harbour area, Hong Kong's digitalization process may witness a new acceleration point.
