As the barriers to AI face swapping and AI voice imitation technologies continue to lower, a batch of irregular accounts using high-tech methods to take the wrong path have emerged in cyberspace. Recently, the WeChat platform announced that it has launched a stringent crackdown on the use of AI technology to impersonate celebrities within the platform, aiming to maintain a healthy ecological order and protect the legitimate rights and interests of public figures.
According to the WeChat platform's monitoring, some irregular accounts use AI technology to accurately forge the image and voice of celebrities, creating fake videos or audio. These contents are often used for illegal traffic diversion, false advertising, and even fraud. Such behavior not only infringes on the right of publicity and reputation of the impersonated individuals but also misleads ordinary users by leveraging the social influence of celebrities, seriously disrupting the normal order of online communication.
Facing this chaos, the WeChat platform has adopted a dual strategy of "human + technology" to block such behaviors. Through user reports, daily inspections, and upgraded AI content recognition technology, the platform has taken strict measures against violations. To date, WeChat has processed more than 13,000 pieces of related violations, and dealt with over 1,200 irregular accounts. Among them, multiple accounts that engaged in malicious traffic diversion were permanently banned from the platform according to law.
WeChat stated that in the future, it will further enhance its ability to identify and manage AI-generated content, optimize processing procedures, and ensure a long-term "zero tolerance" attitude towards behaviors such as AI impersonation and marketing fraud. At the same time, the platform also specifically reminds all users: when encountering such content, they should remain rational, distinguish between truth and falsehood, not believe or spread it, and encourage everyone to actively report violation clues through the complaint channel.

Key points:
🛡️ Unprecedented cleanup efforts: A total of more than 13,000 pieces of violation content have been handled, and over 1,200 accounts have been banned. Some violators have been permanently removed from the platform.
⚠️ Core target of the crackdown: Focus on the acts of using AI to forge the image and voice of celebrities for illegal traffic diversion and false advertising.
🔍 Technological upgrades: The platform will continue to optimize AI identification algorithms and maintain a high-pressure crackdown on AI-based identity impersonation and fraud.
