On this year's CCTV Spring Festival Gala stage, a "fake Cai Ming" robot successfully captured the attention of many viewers. Developed by Songyan Dynamics, this humanoid robot perfectly replicates the appearance and expression of the famous comedic actor Cai Ming in a 1:1 scale, even displaying subtle facial expressions with amazing accuracy. In the sketch "My Grandma's Favorite," the robot performed on stage with Cai Ming, which amazed the audience, with many people mistaking it for the real Cai Ming. Some actors even thought they were communicating with Cai Ming.
After the Spring Festival Gala, Songyan Dynamics officially gifted this unique "fake Cai Ming" robot to Cai Ming herself. According to the information, this robot was specially customized for the gala. The research team completed a full-stack independent development over one and a half months and went through three version iterations, successfully overcoming multiple challenges in bionic technology. To achieve high-fidelity replication, the technical team conducted a precise 3D scan of Cai Ming's entire body, collecting key physical data such as her head circumference and arm length, and tracking the movement of her facial muscles. The robot not only accurately replicated the moles and skin texture on Cai Ming's eyes but also featured 40 degrees of freedom in its head and 32 drive motors in its face, enabling it to display a variety of facial expressions flexibly.
On the Spring Festival Gala stage, this robot performed with Cai Ming, delivering an impressive dance performance. The final pose paid tribute to Cai Ming's classic robot造型 from her 1996 Spring Festival Gala, reminding many viewers of the past. It is worth noting that the robot also invited the makeup artist who had previously created the first robot image for Cai Ming to apply makeup, ensuring the detailed replication.
This breakthrough technology not only allowed the audience to experience the charm of technology but also added new possibilities to future Spring Festival performances. The application of humanoid robots in the fields of entertainment and art will open up broader prospects.
