Meta's social platform Threads officially launched a new feature called Dear Algo on the 11th local time. This feature allows users to precisely customize the content they want (or don't want) to see through simple text instructions, enabling direct intervention in the algorithm.

Previously, the recommendation mechanisms of social platforms often acted like a "black box," but Dear Algo offers users a chance to directly communicate with it. Users just need to post an open status starting with "Dear Algo", followed by their preferences, and the AI will adjust the information flow logic for the next 3 days.

  • Highly personalized: Whether you want to "focus on sports news" during a game period or "prevent spoilers" after a popular TV series is updated, just tell the AI through text to achieve this.

  • Preference sharing: If you find that a certain blogger has excellent taste in information flow, you can also import their content preferences by forwarding their Dear Algo post.

  • Time-limited effectiveness: The adjusted recommendation logic will last for 3 days, ensuring that the user experience is highly tailored to current needs during specific time periods.

Currently, Threads has launched this feature first in the United States, New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom, and plans to expand it to more regions around the world in the future.
