Google announced on Wednesday a major overhaul of its core research tool "Google Trends." The core of this update is the introduction of Gemini AI technology, aimed at completely changing the way users explore popular topics through automated identification and in-depth association analysis. This update is gradually being rolled out globally on desktop platforms starting today.

Gemini Empowers: From "Manual Search" to "Intelligent Insights"
For a long time, "Google Trends" has been an essential tool for journalists, creators, and researchers to analyze search popularity. The new Gemini experience significantly reduces manual operations when users explore related information:
Smart Sidebar: A new sidebar feature has been added to the page, which automatically identifies and compares related trends based on the user's initial search term.
AI-Guided Exploration: The system provides a list of prompts generated by Gemini, guiding users to conduct deeper data mining and discover potential associations that may have been overlooked.
Design Optimization: Multi-Dimensional Comparison and Visual Upgrade
To improve data readability, Google has optimized the UI accordingly:
Color Mapping System: Each search term now has a unique icon and color that precisely correspond to the lines in the trend chart, making data comparison clear at a glance.
Double Capacity: Google has significantly increased the number of search terms that can be compared. For example, with the search term "dog breeds," the AI can automatically fill in up to 8 related search terms (such as Golden Retrievers, Beagles, etc.), and double the number of search volume increase entries displayed on the timeline.
Smart Recommendations: The system will recommend more category-based topics based on the current search, such as "hypoallergenic dog breeds" or "large dog breeds." Users can edit by hovering or use filters such as country, time, and attributes for high-level customization.
