In response to the growing trend of "AI modification" on the internet, major content platforms are conducting strict special governance. Since the State Administration of Radio, Film and Television announced a one-month special campaign starting from January 1, 2026, mainstream audio-visual platforms such as WeChat, Douyin, and Xiaohongshu have taken action, recently releasing their initial results of the campaign.

The core focus of this governance is to target content that uses AI technology to deconstruct, mock, or distort serious film and television works, including the Four Great Classical Novels, historical themes, revolutionary themes, and exemplary figures. According to AIbase, all platforms invested significant technical resources in monitoring and intercepting during the first week of the campaign.

In terms of specific handling data, leading platforms demonstrated high efficiency in governance. WeChat and Douyin acted the fastest, cleaning up 1,078 and 1,075 illegal short videos respectively. Kuaishou followed closely, handling 1,057 related contents. In addition, Bilibili intercepted more than 700 illegal articles, while Xiaohongshu, Baidu, and Weibo cleaned up hundreds of videos involving "modified" classic IPs according to the characteristics of their respective platforms, and also imposed warnings or permanent bans on some accounts with severe violations.

This cross-platform joint governance sends a clear message: although AI creation is a technological advancement, it is not a "lawless area" for arbitrarily deconstructing classics and undermining mainstream values. As the special campaign continues, platforms will continue to filter risky content through technical means and guide AI-generated content back to a rational and compliant creative path.
