Recently, Shenzhen announced the first batch of 222 key projects at the 2026 Project Construction Promotion Conference. One of the highly anticipated projects is the "General Video Technology R&D Headquarters" located in Yuezhi Street, Nanshan District, which will become the second headquarters of ByteDance's Douyin. The launch of this project not only marks Douyin's development layout in the Greater Bay Area but will also help the company's technology research and innovation.

The construction goal of the new headquarters is to create an industrial cluster integrating general video research and development with new businesses, supporting the research and development of core products such as Douyin and Toutiao, while also establishing ByteDance's AI laboratory research center and SaaS platform service center. These measures will further strengthen Nanshan District's industrial advantages in the digital economy and artificial intelligence fields, promoting technological advancement in the entire region.

It is worth noting that Douyin's layout in Shenzhen is not the first. In July 2025, Douyin Group had already launched its first self-owned regional headquarters in Shenzhen — the Douyin Group After Sea Center, covering an area of 77,000 square meters, responsible for business management and technology research and development in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This shows Douyin's emphasis and confidence in this regional market.

Additionally, Douyin's business ecosystem in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area has already formed a pattern centered on Guangzhou and Shenzhen. Since 2016, Douyin has been laying out in Haizhu District, Guangzhou, and has now developed into multiple business segments including information, e-commerce, and lifestyle services. In March 2025, Douyin's wholly-owned subsidiary, Guangzhou Suigeng Technology, successfully bid 1.214 billion yuan for a piece of land in Haizhu District, Guangzhou, planning to build the Douyin South China Innovation Base, focusing on cutting-edge fields such as digital marketing, digital entertainment, and artificial intelligence.

Douyin's series of strategic initiatives not only promote its own development but also provide new momentum for the economic growth and technological progress of the entire region.
