Following the smart earphones Ola Friend, ByteDance's latest core layout in the field of AI hardware on the edge - the "Doubao" AI glasses - has entered the shipping preparation stage, confirmed by the supply chain.
Blue Whale Technology reported that the project was launched less than a year ago, developed by ByteDance in collaboration with Longqi Technology in Huizhou and mass-produced by the Nanchang factory. Currently, the order quantity for Longqi Technology has reached 1 million units. The design of this glasses emphasizes extreme lightness, successfully controlling the body weight to within 50 grams by using its self-developed spatial algorithm chip, making the wearing experience very close to traditional glasses. The product line adopts a gradient configuration strategy, covering multiple versions with or without photography and display functions. The basic version without a screen is planned to be released first in the first quarter of 2026, while the advanced version with display functions is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter.
In terms of software and hardware integration, the Doubao AI glasses continue ByteDance's logic of "using software to drive hardware". Users need to use the Doubao App to achieve full AI functions. Longqi Technology is responsible for the development of the underlying UI interaction, while ByteDance focuses on the development of upper-level applications. Through the real-time audio and video technology of the Volcano Engine and the Doubao large model, it achieves smooth voice communication and environmental perception. In terms of pricing, ByteDance shows a strong intention for market penetration, with an estimated starting price controlled within 2000 yuan, aiming to quickly capture the consumer wearable market through a high-cost-performance strategy.
Additionally, ByteDance collaborates with partners such as Volcano Engine and Runxin Technology to provide modules and large model support for traditional brands such as Laofengxiang, trying to build a broader hardware ecosystem at the intersection of fashion wearables and AI technology.
