Recently, Jiang Yuchen, Director of the Smart Product Development Department at OPPO ColorOS, discussed OPPO's development roadmap in the AI phone field during an interview with the media. He emphasized that GUI Agent is currently a transitional form of technology, and the future will tend to favor the Agent-to-Agent (A2A) model. This statement comes at a time when ByteDance and Nubia jointly launched the "Doubao AI Phone," which has attracted widespread attention. The latter enables cross-app automated operations through voice commands, becoming a hot topic in the industry.

Jiang Yuchen pointed out that the "Doubao AI Phone" uses technologies such as screen simulation clicks and accessibility services to achieve complex cross-app operations, demonstrating the great potential of AI phone assistants. However, this technology has also raised concerns about data authorization and privacy protection, especially when it bypasses app sandbox isolation mechanisms and directly accesses users' sensitive data. Jiang Yuchen believes that although Doubao's exploration has its positive significance, OPPO tends to process data on the device side to ensure the security of user information.
When discussing OPPO's technical plans, Jiang Yuchen said that for high-frequency internet service scenarios, OPPO will prioritize the A2A approach, strengthening direct communication and collaboration between different intelligent agents. For some long-tail demands, the GUI method will still be used to meet user needs. Jiang Yuchen also revealed that OPPO is currently working with partners like Alipay to build a standardized framework, aiming to jointly explore more efficient service capabilities.
In addition, Jiang Yuchen emphasized that future AI phones will not only be single-function assistants but will become ubiquitous personal assistants in users' lives, capable of providing needed services in real-time and even having "memory" capabilities to enhance the user experience. When talking about industry development, he believes that AI phones are still in the early stage, and there are significant differences among manufacturers in their exploration paths.
Compared to the active exploration by domestic manufacturers, international giants like Apple and Google have been relatively conservative in terms of AI automation experiences, and have not yet launched AI solutions that can replace users in operating apps. Jiang Yuchen pointed out that each manufacturer has its own choices and implementation paths, but in terms of privacy protection, the needs of users both domestically and internationally are gradually converging. OPPO is committed to providing a consistent privacy experience.
