China's medical AI takes a crucial step forward. On December 20, the National Artificial Intelligence Application Pilot Base (Medical) in Zhejiang officially opened its industrial park and launched "AntAngelMed," a medical large model jointly developed by Ant Group and the base. With 100 billion parameters, this model has become the largest open-source medical large model in the world. It uses a mixture of experts (MoE) architecture and is fully compatible with domestic chips such as Ascend and Cambricon. From training to inference, it achieves full-chain technical self-reliance, data security, and system controllability.

Deep thinking + clinical application, beyond "Q&A"

Different from general large models that only perform shallow information retrieval, AntAngelMed has the ability for multi-turn reasoning, logical consistency, and self-correction, based on massive medical literature and de-identified real case data. When facing complex cases with incomplete information—such as "a 65-year-old male with chest pain and difficulty breathing, with a history of diabetes"—the model can actively ask for key indicators, eliminate distractions, and perform stratified diagnosis based on guidelines, truly moving towards "clinical-level intelligent assistance."

Two major benchmark scenarios have been implemented: cardiac health and adolescent mental health

Currently, AntAngelMed has achieved clinical transformation:

- In collaboration with Academician Wang Jian'an's team at the Second Hospital of Zhejiang University, they launched "Jack安心智能体" (Jack Safe Smart Agent), providing postoperative follow-up, medication reminders, and abnormal ECG alerts for patients with heart valve disease;

- In cooperation with Hangzhou No.7 People's Hospital, they developed "Yunwu Jingling" (Cloud Mist Sprite) smart agent, focusing on mental health issues among adolescents, such as depression and anxiety, offering 7×24-hour supportive guidance and crisis identification.

The open-source ecosystem is also launching, building a global medical AI foundation

To promote technological inclusiveness, Zhejiang officially launched the "AntAngel Open Source Community" on the same day, opening up to global developers:

- Complete model weights and inference code;

- Domestic training toolchain and medical data preprocessing packages;

- Vertical domain fine-tuning templates for cardiology, psychiatry, imaging, etc.

This initiative aims to build a secure, open, and collaborative medical AI ecosystem, accelerating the large-scale implementation of AI in primary care, chronic disease management, and public health scenarios.
