Recently, Anthropic announced that the annualized revenue of its Claude Code has reached one billion US dollars, achieving this milestone just six months after the product's launch. From an initial internal engineering experiment, Claude Code has evolved into a key tool for many of the world's top companies, including Netflix, Spotify, KPMG, L’Oreal, and Salesforce.

Aside from this financial milestone, Anthropic also announced the acquisition of the startup company Bun. Bun focuses on providing an open-source toolkit designed to simplify and accelerate full-stack JavaScript and TypeScript development. Anthropic considers Bun's tools as the "infrastructure" for AI-driven software engineering, combining features such as a runtime environment, package manager, bundler, and test runner.
Anthropic points out that Bun's tools have been optimized for reliability, speed, and user experience, meaning that this acquisition represents faster performance, higher stability, and new features for developers using Claude Code. In addition, Bun has over 7 million downloads per month and has received 82,000 stars on GitHub, showing its popularity within the developer community. Notably, Bun will continue to remain open source under the MIT license.
Meanwhile, the Financial Times reported that Anthropic is planning its initial public offering (IPO), which would make the company's valuation exceed 300 billion US dollars. The company will work with Wilson Sonsini, the law firm that has provided legal advice to it since 2022. This firm has been involved in the IPOs of high-profile tech companies such as Google, LinkedIn, and Lyft. However, an Anthropic spokesperson stated that operating as a "public company" is a "standard practice" for companies of this scale, but no final decision has been made about whether to actually proceed with the IPO.
These developments come as OpenAI is also considering an IPO, although its CFO Sarah Friar has denied this. Last month, CNBC reported that Microsoft plans to invest up to 5 billion US dollars in Anthropic, while NVIDIA's investment could reach 10 billion US dollars, which would bring Anthropic's valuation to 350 billion US dollars.
