GPU are collectively "melting," two giants slash simultaneously: OpenAI has reduced the free tier of Sora to six videos per day, and Google has cut the free image generation for Nano Banana Pro to two images per day, with both offering an "always adjustable" option.
- Sora: Six videos as the hard limit
OpenAI's project lead stated on X, "GPUs are melting," and free users can generate only six short videos per day; exceeding this limit costs $4 for 10 additional credits. Plus/Pro subscriptions have not been reduced yet, but the official has not given a clear upper limit.
- Nano Banana Pro: 3→2, plus a "subject to change" warning
Google quietly updated its terms of service: the free image generation for users dropped from three images per day to two images. Gemini 3 Pro is also now "basic access," with thinking mode limits that "may be frequently adjusted" without prior notice.
- NotebookLM new features temporarily removed
Infographics and slide sets driven by the same model were "rolled back" this week—free users can no longer access them, and Pro subscribers have also been added with a hidden limit. Google said, "Demand has far exceeded expectations, and we are expanding capacity to recover."
