Recently, Google released a new feature for its Gemini AI - "Deep Research," which can extract information from users' Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Chat to generate intelligent research reports. This feature is one of the most anticipated characteristics for users, aiming to provide more comprehensive and accurate research support.

The Deep Research feature of Gemini first creates a multi-step research plan, then performs a series of web searches to create a customizable report. Users can add additional information as needed, or export the entire report to Google Docs, or even generate an AI podcast for sharing and presentation.

In the announcement, Google stated that the integration of Deep Research with Workspace products allows users to conduct market analysis and competitor reports more efficiently. For example, users can let Deep Research analyze team brainstorming documents, relevant email threads, and project plans, thereby better planning the market strategy for new products. At the same time, users can also create reports on competitor products, cross-referencing public web data with their own strategies, comparison tables, and team chat records.

When using the Deep Research feature of Gemini, users just need to select "Deep Research" in the prompt bar, and then choose four sources of information: regular Google search, Gmail, Drive, or Chat. This way, users' emails, documents, slides, spreadsheets, PDF files, and Google Chat chat records will all provide contextual information for the AI model. Currently, this feature is only available on the desktop version, and Google said it will start promoting it on mobile devices in the coming days.
