Google and Jio, a telecom giant under Reliance Industries, announced a strategic partnership today, introducing its cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology to the Indian market. Eligible Jio users will receive a free 18-month Google AI Pro plan, valued at approximately 35,100 rupees (about 30,000 yuan), aimed at promoting the widespread application of artificial intelligence in India.

According to the agreement, the plan includes access to Google's most advanced Gemini 2.5 Pro model, allowing users to enjoy deep research features and a million-token context window within the Gemini app. In addition, the plan provides image and video generation tools supported by the Nano Banana and Veo 3.1 models, enhancing creative limits; the usage rights of the NotebookLM research assistant will be expanded fivefold, suitable for academic and professional research scenarios. At the same time, users will get 2TB of cloud storage space, which can be used across Google Photos, Gmail, Drive, and WhatsApp backups on Android devices.
This collaboration is initially open to young users aged 18 to 25, who need to subscribe to a Jio unlimited 5G plan worth 349 rupees or more (prepaid or postpaid). Jio stated that users must maintain an active 5G plan status to continue enjoying the free benefits. The plan will later be expanded to all eligible Jio users nationwide, including existing Google AI Pro paid members who can seamlessly switch to this free version.
Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, emphasized in a statement that this move is a core part of the "AI for All" vision, aiming to empower Indian youth in the fields of creativity, education, and innovation through the integration of 5G connectivity and AI capabilities. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, said that this collaboration will place world-class AI tools in the hands of millions of Indian consumers, driving the vigorous development of the local developer community.
