Canva recently announced the launch of a series of new digital marketing and video editing tools, which are built upon what they call the "world's first" design-focused AI model. These new products represent a comprehensive upgrade to Canva's Visual Suite, which Canva describes as the "creative operating system" for marketing teams.

It should be noted that this is not an operating system in the traditional sense. Canva uses this term as a comprehensive reference to its various task-specific tools, the AI that supports these tools, and its broader platform interface. Cameron Adams, co-founder of Canva, said: "We considered several different phrases, and 'operating system' happened to align with our vision. It's not just an application layer, but a real system that governs the entire creative process and workflow."

Some changes that users will notice include a redesigned video editor that is more user-friendly, making it easy to use even without extensive editing experience. Additionally, Canva has introduced a template library and a simplified timeline for trimming, synchronizing, and layering video content. Furthermore, Canva has launched a tool called "Forms," which allows users to collect feedback, similar to Google Forms, enabling users to directly import data into Canva and automatically import it into Canva Sheets.

Canva is now fully entering the marketing tools market by launching the new Canva Grow marketing platform, allowing marketers to design and publish ads and use AI to track ad performance, with the AI continuously optimizing each ad campaign based on performance data. At the same time, the new email design product enables marketing teams to create and export brand email campaigns without programming or switching to dedicated email marketing platforms like Mailchimp.

All these new features are supported by Canva's newly developed internal AI model, which is specifically trained to understand the complexities of design. Canva states that its upgraded AI experience is mostly locked behind the premium subscription, deeply embedded in every design process on the platform.

Canva has evolved from a web-based graphic design platform into a solution offering easy creative tools, with most of its products now providing alternatives to Google or Microsoft office applications. Since this experience is provided as a unified service, paying users cannot choose the products they truly need. Regarding the backlash from users about the price increase caused by AI, Adams stated that Canva currently has no plans to implement such a system.
