Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, stated in a recent earnings call that there will be more AI-generated content flooding social media platforms in the future. He emphasized that as AI technology advances, creating and editing content has become easier, which will provide a "huge" library of content for social media recommendation systems.

Zuckerberg mentioned that social media has gone through two developmental stages. The first stage was when users mainly shared content from friends, family, and followed accounts; the second stage was the addition of creator content. Although Zuckerberg did not explicitly state whether AI represents the third era of social media, it is clear that AI technology will play an important role in the future of social media.

He further explained that recommendation systems capable of "deeply understanding" AI-generated content will become increasingly valuable. Meta has already integrated AI tools into its applications and is experimenting with specialized AI social apps. Susan Li, Meta's Chief Financial Officer, also revealed that users generated over 2 billion images in the newly launched Vibes app, which provides users with AI-generated video content similar to OpenAI's Sora.

Zuckerberg added that Vibes is an example of a new type of content driven by AI and said that there are more innovative content forms waiting to be developed in the future. According to Meta's latest financial report, the company's revenue reached $51.24 billion this quarter, an increase of 26% year-over-year. However, the company also faced a tax expense of $15.93 billion related to former President Trump's "Big Plan".
