A new study by the SEO company Graphite shows that out of 65,000 English articles published between January 2020 and May 2025, about half were generated by AI. The study used the Surfer AI detection tool, classifying articles with more than 50% of content determined to be generated by a large language model as AI-generated works. Since the release of ChatGPT in November 2022, the proportion of AI-generated content has significantly increased.
