Recently, Microsoft announced an important upgrade to its Copilot AI assistant, allowing users to directly connect to multiple personal productivity applications such as Outlook and Gmail. This new feature enables users to be more efficient when handling daily work tasks, making it easier to access the information they need.

According to Microsoft, this connector feature is optional, and users can choose which services to connect in the settings. Through natural language prompts, Copilot can automatically search for email content, such as summarizing work project schedules sent by colleagues, saving users time and effort in searching for information.

In addition, Microsoft has announced that Copilot users can now create and export Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, PDF files, and PowerPoint presentations through natural language instructions. This means that users can instantly turn their ideas, notes, and data into shareable and editable documents by simply entering a prompt. For example, a user can ask Copilot to help generate a daily travel itinerary for an upcoming holiday and upload it to a PowerPoint presentation, then export the file to share with others.

Currently, this upgrade and the new connector feature are being gradually rolled out to members of Microsoft Copilot's "Insider" program. Although the feature is being promoted, not all insiders will immediately receive this update.

This upgrade comes at a time when Microsoft is intensifying its efforts to expand its core AI products while striving to integrate them more closely with everyday productivity applications. In this regard, competition among tech companies is becoming increasingly fierce. For example, recently, Perplexity launched a new Email Assistant that can extract information directly from users' Gmail or Outlook accounts. At the same time, Microsoft has also partnered with the AI startup Anthropic, planning to embed the company's AI system into the Microsoft 365 suite.

For enterprise users, these new features mean they can manage daily workflows more efficiently, reducing the time spent on information retrieval and document creation, thereby improving overall office efficiency.
