Google announced on Thursday that its customized AI assistant, Gemini Gems, is now available for users to share. This feature was initially launched as part of a paid subscription service, allowing users to create AI chatbots tailored for specific tasks, such as learning coaches, writing editors, or programming partners.
Google stated that users can now easily share their Gems with friends, family, or colleagues, just like sharing Google Drive files. This move aims to make these customized AI tools more accessible to more people and avoid the need to recreate similar assistants repeatedly. For example, if multiple members of a team need a similar Gem, they can now share the same version directly, ensuring consistency.

This feature is especially useful for scenarios such as family vacation planning, meal planning, or collaborative writing projects. To share a Gem, users simply open the Gem manager on the web application, click the "Share" icon next to the Gem they want to share, and control who can view or edit it.
In March this year, Google announced that Gems are now available to all users and support file uploads. Previously, this feature had been rolled out to Gemini Advanced, Gemini Business, and Gemini Enterprise users in over 150 countries.
