Google Bard undergoes a major upgrade, renamed Gemini


Apple is collaborating with Google to use a customized large language model with 1.2 trillion parameters as the core upgrade for the next generation of Siri. The scale of parameters in this model far exceeds current mainstream mobile models (such as Gemini 3.5 Flash with 300 billion parameters), drawing significant attention from the industry.
Google updated its generated search governance guidelines in mid-May, officially classifying malicious manipulation behaviors in Generated Engine Optimization (GEO) as spam content. This move targets the challenge of "AI poisoning" in the era of large models, aiming to maintain the fairness of the search ecosystem by taking a stand against advertisers attempting to deceive "AI" by fabricating information.
After the I/O conference, Google CEO Sundar Pichai accepted a podcast interview, openly discussing the AI competition. He admitted that Google leads in overall intelligence and multimodal capabilities, but lags in agent-based programming and complex long-term tasks. The conversation also touched on changes in search patterns and AI safety, reflecting Google's open attitude as it faces challenges in the AI race.
Apple's previously highly publicized Apple Intelligence feature, particularly the image generation tool Image Playground, was humorously criticized by users as the worst AI function due to its poor output quality. However, the upcoming OS27 system will bring a turning point, with key upgrades including the adoption of a new foundational model and the introduction of Gemini computing power support, which is expected to significantly improve the performance of generative AI.
