Microsoft's Two Self-Developed AI Chips Maia 100 and CobAlt to Be Manufactured by TSMC


Microsoft has recruited top research teams from the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence and the University of Washington, led by Ali Farhadi, former CEO of Ai2, who joined Microsoft's newly established 'Super Intelligence' department, aiming to strengthen its general artificial intelligence strategy.
Microsoft will make core improvements to Windows 11, focusing on enhancing system speed and usability. The update will reduce the interference of AI features, Copilot, in native apps such as screenshot tools and photos, to create a quieter system environment.
OpenAI disclosed documents before its IPO, for the first time listing its reliance on Microsoft as a major risk, acknowledging its heavy dependence on Microsoft for funding and computing resources, and stating that any change in cooperation would greatly affect its business.
Microsoft is adjusting the direction of Windows 11 updates, planning to streamline the Copilot entry to improve user experience. The executive vice president stated that after listening to community feedback, the team believes too many AI entries interfere with users, and will first remove or hide the Copilot button in some applications.
