On November 15, Google Cloud's service department announced the introduction of a new data storage location feature for its comprehensive managed AI development service, Vertex AI. This feature will allow customers to specify in which country or region the data processed by Vertex AI should be stored. The initial supported data storage location options are for a series of pre-trained generative AI models within Vertex AI, including PaLM-2, among others. The supported storage locations include ten countries such as the United States, Canada, and Japan. The second batch of supported data storage control measures involves Vertex AI Search and Vertex AI Conversation. As concerns over data storage continue to grow, Google is competing with companies like Amazon and Oracle for dominance in the data storage sector.
