miHoYo announced that its desktop companion software, "BSide: Olivia Lin," will officially cease operations on August 31. This is less than a month since it launched its early access on Steam on July 13. The official also released an offline version, which players need to download before 15:00 Beijing Time on the same day. After the server shutdown, some functions can still be used.

The offline version retains some companionship features

According to the official introduction, the offline version allows users to continue listening to the performance of character "Lin Li" locally and use the desktop dynamic wallpaper function. These features remain unaffected and can still run after the server shutdown. miHoYo stated that Lin Li will retain some companionship capabilities in the offline version, allowing users to continue experiencing related content.

miHoYo said that although the operation period was short, they received user interaction content about Lin Li during this time, including listening to vinyl records, writing letters, and uploading melodies. In terms of data, letters, MIDI creation files, music libraries, and related data must be saved and backed up before 15:00 on August 31, when the server closes. After the service shutdown, the company will handle the data in accordance with laws and regulations and privacy policies. Online content cannot be viewed or recovered and will not be synchronized to the offline version.
