At a press conference held today by the State Council Information Office on the theme of "Laying a Solid Foundation for the 14th Five-Year Plan," officials from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced the latest achievements in China's artificial intelligence (AI) sector. Data shows that during the 14th Five-Year Plan period, the cumulative number of downloads of open-source large AI models developed in China has exceeded 10 billion globally.

This milestone figure not only highlights China's strong capabilities in R&D of open-source large AI models, but also reflects the growing influence and contribution of Chinese AI technology in the global open-source ecosystem. The open-source model effectively promotes the sharing, innovation, and accessibility of technology, lowering the barriers for global developers and enterprises to apply AI technologies.

Looking ahead, in the new development stage of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the MIIT clearly stated that it will seize the opportunity to further leverage next-generation information technologies represented by AI. This means that at the national level, there will be continued support for core technological research and development in AI and the construction of an industrial ecosystem, promoting the deep integration of AI with the real economy, and injecting stronger digital and intelligent momentum into high-quality economic and social development.
