Regarding the recent issue of rapid usage consumption reported by a large number of users, Thibault Sottiaux, head of the OpenAI Codex & ChatGPT team, made an official response on a social platform, announcing that all subscribed users will have their usage quotas reset uniformly around 14:00 PM Pacific Time tomorrow.

Behind this abnormal usage surge, the OpenAI dedicated investigation team identified three specific technical causes: first, the underlying operational efficiency significantly decreased when images were frequently used in long sessions and experienced multiple context compressions; second, the resource usage of Computer History remained high at P95 and higher percentiles; additionally, the actual consumption of the routine feature used to automatically generate conversation titles exceeded the expected preset levels.

To thoroughly address these issues, the OpenAI technical team has been working intensively on fixes, with the relevant optimization measures expected to go live tomorrow. Meanwhile, the development team also unexpectedly discovered a new efficiency improvement solution completely unrelated to the current issue, and plans to fully implement it in development next week, continuously optimizing the overall user experience.
