SpaceX, a major player in commercial space, has reached a significant milestone and is expected to go public later this week. To build momentum for this highly anticipated largest IPO in history, Elon Musk, CEO of SpaceX, personally revealed the latest details of the orbital AI data center satellite project on Monday, a project that has become the most eye-catching card in its listing promotion.

Specifications of the First AI Satellite Revealed
Musk shared a 30-minute video on social media detailing SpaceX's future strategic blueprint and for the first time publicly displayed concept images and key specifications of the company's first AI data center satellite, "AI1." This satellite will be a core component of SpaceX's planned network of millions of orbital satellites, specifically designed to perform extremely complex AI computing tasks in Earth orbit.
From the exposed specifications, this early version of the satellite is equipped with massive solar panels with a wingspan of 70 meters. Its average computing power reaches up to 120 kilowatts, with a peak of as much as 150 kilowatts, providing strong energy support for space AI computing power.
Manufacturing Difficulty is Far Lower than Starlink
When discussing manufacturing feasibility, Musk, drawing on his experience in building the Starlink system, confidently claimed that manufacturing these data center satellites is actually simpler than Starlink. He explained that the AI satellites are essentially a combination of numerous solar panels, radiators, and laser links. Since they do not require the complex communication antenna systems like Starlink, their design and manufacturing difficulty is significantly reduced.
To support the large-scale satellite production plan, SpaceX also plans to carry out a massive expansion of its Bastrop factory in Texas. This project, named "Gigasat," will cover an area of more than 11 million square feet, consisting of multiple large warehouses, fully dedicated to producing the large solar panels required for data center satellites.
