Samsung Electronics recently announced a major software update for the Bespoke AI Refrigerator Home Hub, available for sale in the United States. This update brings next-generation AI-enhanced features to existing users without requiring hardware replacement. The update includes new features such as AI visual food recognition technology developed in collaboration with Google Gemini, an upgraded Bixby voice control, and personalized daily widgets.

Jeong Seung-mun, Executive Vice President of the Samsung Electronics Digital Appliance R&D team, said: “The value of home appliances should not be fixed at the time of purchase but should continue to increase with technological advancements.” This update aims to provide users with a smarter kitchen experience, capable of identifying more types of food, understanding natural language conversations, and adapting to the family's daily routines.
The updated AI food management system significantly expands the Home Hub's ability to identify and track food. Combined with cloud intelligence, the system can now more accurately identify various fresh vegetables and packaged foods. Additionally, the Home Hub can proactively remind users when they need to restock frequently consumed items, helping simplify shopping plans and reduce food waste.
The Bixby voice assistant has also been upgraded, supporting more natural and intelligent voice control. Users can now interact with the refrigerator through more everyday conversations rather than relying on specific commands. For example, a user can simply say, "Hey Bixby, help me make ice cubes." Bixby will understand and perform the relevant action.
The Home Hub's "Today's Briefing" feature has also been enhanced, adding a series of personalized widgets that improve the daily usability of the refrigerator screen. These features include popular recipe recommendations, displays of commonly used ingredients, and menu suggestions based on the contents of the refrigerator, aiming to make the cooking experience more enjoyable and fun.
This update began rolling out on May 11th for specific Bespoke AI refrigerator models in the United States and is planned to gradually expand to other markets in 2026.
