On Wednesday, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI publicly released a 45-minute video of its staff meeting on the X platform, a rare move that appears to be a response to previous leaks by The New York Times. The video comprehensively revealed xAI's close ties with the X platform, its new organizational structure, and Musk's highly sci-fi "Lunar AI Base" blueprint.

Organizational Changes: Founding Team Losses and Four Core Teams Established

Musk confirmed a series of recent personnel changes in the meeting, characterizing them as "layoffs caused by organizational restructuring." Although Musk emphasized that this was inevitable for a rapidly growing company, the departures of several founding members have raised concerns about team stability.

After the restructuring, xAI will be divided into four functional teams:

  • Grok Team: Focuses on the Grok chatbot and voice interaction.

  • Code System Team: Focuses on application automation development.

  • Imagine Team: Focuses on video generation technology.

  • Macrohard Team: Responsible for simulating computer operations and full-process modeling of the company. The team leader Toby Pohlen stated that their ultimate goal is to achieve a "rocket engine entirely designed by AI."

Finance and Data: X Subscription Revenue Exceeds $1 Billion, Content Controversies Coexist

Nikita Bier, the product head of the X platform, revealed that due to holiday marketing, the annual recurring revenue of X has exceeded $1 billion. In terms of technical indicators, the Imagine tool performed remarkably, generating 50 million videos per day, and over the past 30 days, the number of images generated exceeded 6 billion.

However, behind the prosperity lies hidden dangers. Reports indicate that a large amount of controversial deepfake content is included in these massive data sets. It is estimated that within just 9 days, the platform generated approximately 1.8 million images with sexual connotations.

Interstellar Ambitions: Lunar Launcher and Dyson Sphere Prototype

At the end of the meeting, Musk once again showcased his "Mars perspective," proposing the establishment of an AI satellite factory on the moon, accompanied by a lunar mass driver (electromagnetic launcher). His vision includes:

  • Efficiently launching AI clusters using the low-gravity environment of the moon.

  • Capturing most of the sun's total energy to support unprecedented intelligent computing power.

  • Ultimately expanding the computing network to other galaxies.
