On February 5, Sunway officially announced an achievement that will be recorded in the history of domestic computing power: the country's first 30,000-card scaleX super cluster has officially gone into trial operation at the Zhengzhou core node of the National Supercomputing Internet. This means we have finally gained the largest domestically produced AI computing pool currently in operation in China.
From "10,000 cards" to "30,000 cards," Chinese computing power only took less than two months.
If you remember the HAIC conference last December, at that time Sunway's scaleX 10,000-card super cluster had just made its first real machine debut. Who would have thought that within less than two months, the scale would directly triple. This "construction monster" speed not only demonstrates the confidence of domestic computing power, but also marks that AI computing power has fully entered the "super large-scale cluster" combat era from the "individual card" era.
The most convenient thing for developers is its "extreme compatibility."
Many domestic computing platforms are the most frustrating with software ecosystems, but this time scaleX takes an open architecture approach, fully compatible with mainstream software ecosystems such as CUDA, and even supports "mixed insertion" deployment of multiple brands of domestic acceleration cards. It's like a "computing giant" that doesn't pick its food, greatly reducing the threshold for migration from other platforms. Currently, it has completed the adaptation and optimization of more than 400 mainstream large models. Whether you want to run a trillion-parameter model training or high-throughput AI inference, it can handle it stably.
What can this "super machine" do? The answer is: changing the limits of scientific exploration.
With the support of scaleX, a domestic materials research big model has successfully topped an international authoritative ranking, and even a top research team has improved the efficiency of protein research by 3-6 orders of magnitude. From the core businesses of internet giants to the most cutting-edge AI for Science, these 30,000 cards are continuously outputting "digital energy" that changes the world.
Even more impressive is that this is not its end. Sunway stated that the system has the ability to flexibly expand to 100,000 cards, or even 1 million cards. It seems that in the second half of the AI arms race, domestic computing power has already sat at the final table.
