After Spotify Wrapped took over the world, the AI industry has finally arrived at its own "year-end summary moment." OpenAI officially launched the "Your Year with ChatGPT" (Your ChatGPT Year in Review) feature today, generating a highly personalized, visual, and shareable AI interaction profile for eligible users. It covers the entire year's usage data, thematic profiles, custom poetry, and fun "AI personality badges," turning the traces of human-AI conversations into a memorable digital keepsake.

More than just a data recap, it's a "digital self-portrait" of the AI era

This feature analyzes users' chat records throughout the year (users must manually enable the "reference chat history" and "reference saved memories" permissions), automatically generating three core elements:   

- Interaction Overview: Displaying behavioral data such as question frequency, popular topics, and usage times;  

- AI Personality Badges: Fun titles based on conversation patterns, such as "Creative Debugger" for those who frequently refine text, or "Code Alchemist" for those who often ask technical questions;  

- Annual Theme Poem + AI Artwork: The system extracts the user's most concerned topics (such as "climate change," "novel writing," "parenting anxiety"), creates a customized poem, and pairs it with an image generated by DALL·E, forming a unique "annual snapshot of the spirit."

Privacy First, Not Mandatory

OpenAI emphasized that this experience is "lightweight, privacy-focused, and user-controlled":  

- Available only to individual free/Plus/Pro users in English-speaking regions such as the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand;  

- Enterprise (Team/Enterprise) and educational accounts are not supported yet;  

- Users must actively enable memory and chat history references, and their total conversation volume must meet a threshold to unlock it;  

- The feature is only displayed on the App homepage, without automatic pop-ups or mandatory displays. Users can also manually trigger it using the command "Launch Your Year with ChatGPT."

Potential for More "Bold" Features? Hints at Adult Content

Notably, the report mentions that as ChatGPT plans to open adult content (NSFW) features under compliance starting in 2026, the themes generated in the annual review may "become bolder" in the future. This implies that OpenAI is gradually expanding personalized experiences into more sensitive areas, but it also raises new discussions about content boundaries and user expectations.
