Recently, Amazon announced an additional $35 billion investment in India to promote the development of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure. This news follows Microsoft's $1.75 billion investment plan, showing that tech giants are paying close attention to the Indian market. The main goal of this investment is to boost India's economic development through AI-driven digitization, export growth, and job creation, and it is expected to create up to 3.8 million jobs in the country.

At the Smbhav Summit held in Delhi, Amazon's investment commitment made it the largest foreign investor in India. This $35 billion investment is a key part of Amazon's total investment of $4 billion in India. Amazon has previously helped 12 million small businesses go digital through this investment.

One of Amazon's priorities is to make AI accessible to more people by 2030. Its plans include enabling 15 million small businesses to use AI tools such as the Seller Assistant and Next Gen Selling. In addition, Amazon will provide services for hundreds of millions of consumers, including visual search tools Lens AI, the conversational shopping chatbot Rufus, and multilingual AI services, to help break down language and literacy barriers.

To support AI-related education, Amazon also plans to enhance the AI skills of over 4 million government school students, which will be achieved by strengthening AI-related courses and teacher training. The company had previously announced the construction of cloud computing and AI infrastructure in Telangana and Maharashtra states in India, and plans to invest $1.27 billion.

India is currently the most populous country in the world, with about 1.46 billion people, providing huge market potential for the widespread application of AI. Samir Kumar, manager of Amazon India, said that AI will become India's "great equalizer," helping to break long-standing language, cultural, and resource barriers. Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised this on social media, believing that Indian youth will seize this opportunity and use the power of AI to create a better future for the planet.
