Recently, the phenomenon of using AI technology to forge images of damaged products for malicious refunds has frequently occurred in the e-commerce field, with many merchants being victims. Recently, an "AI fraud compensation" incident involving a hairy crab merchant in Chengyang Lake, Jiangsu, finally came to a conclusion: the involved customer was administratively detained for 8 days due to illegal acts, and the 195 yuan crab purchase fee that the merchant had been deceived out of was fully recovered.

According to previous reports, the incident occurred on November 18th. A customer from Guangdong claimed that six out of eight crabs were dead after receiving them and provided corresponding images and videos as evidence. Despite the merchant's doubts, they still processed a refund to avoid further disputes.
However, during subsequent verification, the merchant found inconsistencies in the number of male and female dead crabs in the two videos provided by the customer, which highly suspected that the images and videos were synthesized and forged using AI technology.
Face with a loss of less than 200 yuan, the shop owner initially also hesitated whether it was worth spending a lot of effort to hold someone accountable. But she eventually decided to "take this seriously," she said, "Not only to recover my losses, but also to tell all those who work honestly that they should not silently endure injustice." The shop owner's persistence paid off.
At present, the police have issued an administrative penalty decision to the involved customer. According to relevant regulations, the customer was given an administrative detention of eight days and the illegal gains of 195 yuan were also recovered.
The incident has now come to an end. The shop owner has returned to normal operations and promised to continue to maintain quality, "raising every crab carefully." This case provides an important legal reference for e-commerce merchants facing AI fraud.
