Recently, negotiations between Google and the artificial intelligence startup Anthropic have drawn widespread attention in the industry. According to insiders, Google is in preliminary discussions with Anthropic, planning to increase its investment. If this new funding round is successful, Anthropic's valuation is expected to break through the $350 billion mark.
Anthropic was founded in 2021 by several former employees of OpenAI. Its most famous product is the Claude series of large language models. Google has already invested over $3 billion in Anthropic, and in March, legal documents confirmed that Google owns 14% of its shares. In addition, Google and Anthropic reached a cloud computing agreement worth hundreds of billions of dollars in October, allowing the latter to use Google's self-developed 1 million tensor processing units (TPUs), further enhancing its machine learning capabilities.

In this round of negotiations, although the specific investment amount has not been clarified, Google may offer more cloud computing services, convertible bonds, or new pricing financing at the beginning of next year. At the same time, Amazon has also shown no hesitation, having invested $14 billion in Anthropic, becoming its largest investor, and providing powerful computing support for its AI models.
As competition in the AI field becomes increasingly fierce, Anthropic and its competitor OpenAI are competing for market share. In this battle among tech giants, Google and Amazon clearly stand on Anthropic's side, while Microsoft and NVIDIA have chosen to support OpenAI. Anthropic recently completed a $13 billion funding round with a valuation of $138 billion, while OpenAI pushed its company valuation to $500 billion through a stock transaction during the same period.
The competition for AI foundation models is intensifying, as major technology companies are making efforts to position themselves in this trillion-dollar market.
