Recently, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI has asked its employees to provide personal biometric data to train a female chatbot named "Ani." This move has caused widespread dissatisfaction and concerns among employees.

Ani is an anime-style chatbot with a golden twin-tail image, featuring adult content options, designed to offer an interactive experience for users who subscribe to the x platform's SuperGrok service. SuperGrok costs $30 per month (approximately 213.8 RMB). During an internal meeting in April this year, xAI's company lawyer Lily Lim clearly stated that employees needed to submit biometric data to make Ani more "human-like" when interacting with users.

As part of a confidential project called "Project Skippy," employees participating in AI mentorship were required to sign authorization forms allowing xAI to use their facial and voice data globally on a permanent basis. These data will be used to train Ani and other AI partners, causing concerns among employees about the potential misuse of personal information, such as for deepfake videos.

Many employees have expressed opposition to this requirement, believing that the company is infringing on their privacy rights and are dissatisfied with the sexual implications and "wife" image of the chatbot. However, xAI claims that collecting this data is a necessary work requirement to advance the company's mission.

Currently, xAI's Grok has already launched multiple AI partner characters, including "AI boyfriend" Valentine and "AI girlfriend" Mika, as well as two forms of "AI cute pet" red panda Rudi. Although there has been controversy within the company regarding the collection of biometric data, Musk does not seem to have made any changes.
