According to sources, NVIDIA plans to invest up to $1 billion in the artificial intelligence startup Poolside in a deal, which would increase the valuation of this AI startup to four times that of last year. This potential investment marks another step for NVIDIA in its artificial intelligence ecosystem strategy, reinforcing its core position in the global AI supply chain.

It has been reported that Poolside is currently negotiating a new round of financing at a valuation of $12 billion (excluding funds already raised), with a target of raising $2 billion. The initial investment from NVIDIA is expected to be around $500 million, and if Poolside successfully meets its fundraising goal, the total investment from NVIDIA could increase to $1 billion.

This investment plan has not been officially disclosed, and neither NVIDIA nor Poolside have responded to requests for comments.

Poolside is an emerging company focused on building an AI code generation and developer collaboration platform. It has gained attention for its innovations in generative AI programming and toolchain integration. Since its inception, the company has attracted the attention of several well-known investment institutions in Silicon Valley with its positioning of "making AI a programming partner."

Analysts point out that NVIDIA's move not only reflects its confidence in the long-term potential of generative AI but also indicates that the company is accelerating its transformation from a "chip supplier" to an "AI ecosystem strategic investor." Following investments in top AI companies such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Cohere, NVIDIA is building a complete ecosystem loop from underlying GPUs to upper-level AI applications through capital and computing power.
