Midea will launch a smart home large model 'Meiyan Model'


Apple plans to acquire the team and technology of computer vision startup Prompt AI, using a talent and technology acquisition approach to quickly enhance its AI capabilities. Prompt AI was founded in 2023 with a team of only 11 people. Its product Seemour can identify people, pets, and objects through home cameras and describe them in natural language.
Amazon's smart home security company Ring announced on Wednesday that it will introduce an innovative artificial intelligence feature into its doorbells and cameras. This new feature will provide users with specific text descriptions of the movement activities detected by their devices, significantly improving the clarity of real-time notifications. Now, when users receive real-time notifications about events around their homes, the updated information will be more detailed and intuitive. For example, the notification might read, 'A person is walking up the steps with a black dog,' or 'Two people are watching a white car parked in the driveway.'
Gongbu Group recently announced a comprehensive and in-depth full-stack AI cooperation with Alibaba Cloud. The two parties will jointly create products based on Qwen large model and AI computing power and other advanced technologies to explore innovative end-side intelligent solutions. This move not only marks another significant breakthrough for Gongbu in the smart home field, but also indicates that its future will accelerate its overseas strategy by relying on Alibaba Cloud's global infrastructure. Gongbu and Alibaba Cloud have a long history of deep cooperation, establishing a close partnership since 2017. Currently, Gongbu's IoT system has been fully running on the Alibaba Cloud platform.
Recently, well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that Apple is actively exploring the development of humanoid and non-humanoid robots, considering them an important part of the future smart home ecosystem. This news closely follows a research paper released by Apple that discusses the interaction between humans and 'non-anthropomorphized' robots, such as Pixar-style lamps. Although Apple's research is still in the early concept validation stage, Kuo noted that this study provides crucial technical references for future consumer robots. He predicts that mass production of Apple robots may occur.
LG will showcase its first smart home hub ThinQ ON at the IFA 2024 technology fair. This hub integrates artificial intelligence technology, allowing it to connect and control LG appliances and third-party devices, supporting Thread, Matter, and Wi-Fi. The ThinQ ON features a compact and rounded design, doubling as a smart speaker with an integrated LG AI voice assistant that can understand natural language, interpret context, and learn user preferences to provide a personalized experience. The device is powered by a self-developed AI chipset and supports Matter certification.
